However in its theater modes is when this receiver sounds best imo. But I listen to music more than watch movies or tv so I tend to want a system which can handle my requests. Therefore I opted for two separate systems- a digital and a analog based set ups. One for THX movies, etc.

The other for playing records and tapes in 2 or 4 channel with a active subwoofer. Both have a dedicated CD player and iPod connections for the hell of it. Best of both worlds. Overall, I think Yamaha has a lackluster sound that might be too natural for me.

Every room and components vary as the sound quality of many formats diminish. If they want me to hear as it should be I've bought this receiver new back in and still use it.

Can't get the most out of it I think because I'm not hearing the watts it should be able to produce. Playing direct stereo or 2ch channel stereo with or without "straight" effect still gives a weak sound compared to a true stereo amp. Too many options for speaker size and countless other settings. Can anyone please help me with this issue. I have the original owners manual, settings microphone and I'm a huge Yamaha fan.

Would like to get it playing as it should. Speakers used:Infinity Beta 50,20,C and sub sw
